Jeroen De Buck is a Bio-Engineer, and holds a Master’s in Laboratory Animal Sciences, and a PhD in Veterinary Sciences, all from Ghent University. Dr. De Buck has been a Professor in Veterinary Microbiology at the University of Calgary since 2006, and Research Chair in Bacterial Diseases of Dairy Cattle. For 25 years, he has been at the forefront of diagnostic development for veterinary diseases, including with a novel point-of-care platform. Dr. De Buck manages a well-funded lab and has a substantial track record as a mentor and educator. De Buck is author of more than 120 peer-reviewed articles and several patents. Recently, he received the Zoetis Award for Research Excellence and the Peak Scholar Award for innovative work in veterinary infectious diseases. Dr. De Buck is actively engaged with entrepreneurial programs as both a participant and evaluating scientist. Dr. De Buck founded a startup focused on creating on-farm biosensors for dairy producers. He also invents and licenses laboratory equipment.
