Ralf Herold MD PhD is since 2023 head of EMA’s Regulatory Science and Academia Workstream, in the Regulatory Science and Innovation Taskforce, where his team coordinates engagement with the academic sector, not-for-profit organisations and research institutions. He worked as senior scientific officer on paediatric medicines, oncology and foresight at the EMA from 2007-2017 and 2018-2023. From 2017 to 2018, he was the Pediatric development leader at Bayer AG Regulatory affairs and an ICH E11A expert group member. At Charité — Universitätsmedizin Berlin from 1994 to 2007, he obtained an experimental research PhD, board certified in paediatric and adolescent medicine, trained in paediatric oncology and haematology, and managed a national research network.
